Within the contemporary walls of Weather Gage, the refined Federal Street coffee shop created by Bluepoint Hospitality Group in the historic port town of Easton, Maryland, guests can revel in having the upper hand by savoring fine refreshments offered in an atmosphere perfumed by exotic coffees and aromatic teas. The formal masculine interior recalls the quarters of a prosperous sea captain, with handsome pickled oak paneling enhanced by marine details like polished brass sconces, a gilt-framed Buttersworth naval battle painting, and a bold astrolabe chandelier. Belvedere marble slabs with a leathered finish add drama underfoot, while ship-shape shelves contain tidy rows of packaged coffee beans, and glass-domed cake plates on the polished service counter display fresh Traditional and Chocolate Croissants, petite Olive Oil Cakes, and other delectable confections baked daily in-house by baker Glenn May. A variety of specialty espresso drinks made from La Colombe beans, and gourmet teas collected from the Parisian house of Mariage Frères bring the glory days of the international spice trade sweetly into the here-and-now.
