Neutral Ground Bar + Kitchen

Celebrity Chef David Guas became known over 24 years ago as a chef who is true to his heart and heritage with each dish and recipe he prepares. The James Beard Foundation Awards took notice and Guas became a Finalist for his cookbook, DamGoodSweet, proudly honoring his New Orleans hometown desserts that could have been lost after the deluge of Hurricane Katrina. Then hosting the Travel Channel TV Show, American Grilled, and his travels around the country gave Guas a deeper sense of American Culture which furthered his discovery of varied influences in American cuisine. He made it known for his authentic approach to a specific region at his counter-service eatery, Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery - an Arlington, Virginia, neighborhood institution for over 13 years. Now the time has come after a six year search - the opening of his newest venture, a full service restaurant - Neutral Ground Bar + Kitchen in McLean, Virginia, just a few miles from his home. Its name shares a clear message, in New Orleans “neutral ground” refers to a neutral green area that has historically unified the community, bringing together people from across the city. Continuing in this spirit and his community efforts he puts first as a restaurant owner, Neutral Ground is an urban oasis to gather over stiff drinks and responsibly sourced food. It captures the essence of Americana through innovative interpretations of classic dishes, representing the diverse culinary heritage of this nation. Just check your politics at the door- an important message to move forward in the nation.
